How to write and get published on the Internet

A Reason To Live – A Reason To Die

This entry is part 1 of 10 in the series reasons

A Reason To Live - A Reason To Die: by David Foard

A Reason To Live - A Reason To Die Book CoverI have carefully considered what to do with some of my fiction and None-fiction works including the Award winning entries and Short Stories previously published.

So this is going to be something of an experiment to see what kind of reaction I get from you (my readers) and if there is a reasonable way to secure my copyright while presenting everything in the 'Open' as it were.

The Internet can be such an impersonal place.

I want to change that so have decided to offer the first three chapters from my novel 'A reason To Live - A Reason To Die' to anyone who would like to read it. Free - No Charge - all you have to do is register with a real email address. You can unsubscribe at anytime and I will never spam you. :-)

Comments and constructive criticism is also very welcome, but please don't be abusive.

I shall create a special download area where you will be able to purchase the remaining chapters (all in blocks of three) for just US$2.97 as I think that is a fair price for all the years of work that went into this tale.

Buyers will also find the price reasonable and well within the price so everyone can afford it. I shall also be adding an MP3 Audio file as an added Bonus to those who purchase so you will be able to listen to the story on your iPod or in the Car etc.

For the moment - let's start with the first three chapters and see how it goes.

Writing and Speaking Explained

Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link.

Those who say publishing and talking is an art or God’s gift are very correct. I actually have seen many mankind who write with a natural flow, they do not need to feel much, with a little thought in their brain they can right genuinely lengthy and inspiring writings which are amusing to read and easy to understand.

Similarly, some  men and women are so good in speaking that they can speak for hours on any topic without shuffle with a usual run, amazing pronunciation and impressive style. Both writers and speakers can easily mesmerize you with their inborn flair. They have the ability to create an surrounding which is pleasing and affective. They can take you to the fantasy world if they are talking or writing about novel and they can make you scared or upset with their abilities if begin speak out some bad and upsetting events happened.

Writing is on the whole all about creativity, your knowledge can definitely about the subject can play a important position in any form of writing but to give it an extraordinary feel or interesting flavour is not a piece of encrust for every one. But it exactly does not mean that you can not do writings. Surely, there are some God gifted things every human hold but it does not mean that  guys and girl who are not presented with the natural writing skill can not write.

There is a solution for every issue if you are really gritty to do something. You can improve certain things concerning writing and speaking. For marvellous writings you need to keep a few basic points in your mind to make a chief piece that is convincing and appealing to readers. Similarly, for mindblowing speaking abilities you can also use a few tips to make your speech affective, convincing and appealing.

Let us think about about the steps we can take to progress our writing and speaking skills. First, many may think we all gain knowledge to write in our class rooms and speak with our family and friends so what else we can do. Well confirm you did all in family and classroom, but the truth is you can not learn each and every thing in the class room or house. Some things are learnt with practical knowledge. Definite methods which can be used to improve your writing abilities and speaking abilities are as lead,

Read

Reading is like watering your writing and speaking skills, study as much as you can about anything of your attention, you will know millions of ways to express your thoughts and will be able to leave that monotonous way of writing and speaking you have been using for years.

Write

Try to write your ideas, short stories or easy thesis as many as possible. That will surely improve your writing ability.

Speak

Speak what you wrote, few times just in front of mirror, you will not only enjoy to speak out loud your very own master part but will also be able to take out mistakes and can improvise your writings.

Speak To People

Try to talk more in a group of men and women, which will accelerat your poise.

Listen

If reading is water for writing then pay attention to is watering your speaking abilities, so do listen anything exiting. You can progress your way of talk and pronunciation.

That is not all, you may also try to get your writings published and then with the remarks you get on them will surely be of great aid.

No wonder, God gifted each of us with some variety abilities but God also gave us strong and brain to attain them if we do not possess any of them. Use your brain, be determined and the heavens is the limit of achievement in anything. Get Broad Distribution With Article Directories

Posted on April 4, 2010 by David

To get the most out of web marketing, you need to concentrate on both advertising AND natural search engine traffic. Web advertising is much easier as there are many advertising firms that can create compelling copy for the advertising. However, an often overlooked area is natural search engine traffic. The reason is its harder to build up for each desired keyword and takes a lot of effort. Once this is done properly, your website will get built in traffic daily without spending a dime on it, and best of all this traffic source is long term and permanent. Using an article directory can be an important part of this endeavor and should be utilized for maximum impact.

Using an Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. allows users to post content related to their website, and include links in this content back to their site. The search engines love article directories and consider some of them an authority source. So ignoring this source of links is a mistake. While it can seem difficult to write so much content to be submitted to article directories over time, in the longer run it really will pay off.

To get the maximum benefit from Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link., you need to be able to spin your content. What is spinning? Its really very simple. It uses a computer program to help dynamically substitute sentences for one another on a random basis, while keeping the read and flow of the work the same. So you might create something like "The dog is brown". If you wanted to take this and spin the content, you could easily say "The dogs fur is white" or "The dogs fur is yellow in color". They all say basically the same thing, just in a slightly different way – all of them talk about the dogs fur color. Doing this with your Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. can actually create huge amounts of “new” content from a single article you write. Of course you have to write out the alternative text that gets submitted, but then a computer program does the rest. This gives you the best exposure for your work and keeps you from getting penalized by the major search engines for too much duplicate content.

Changing the content around on a main article allows you to submit the content to multiple article directories and not worry about duplicate content.
Sure a few of the same article is fine, but you dont want 200 copies of the exact article submitted all over the web.

Types Of Resumes Formats Depend On The Content

Posted on April 3, 2010 by David

When you find it time to write a new resume, whether you lost your job or are wanting to switch to a new job, you may wonder what type of resume format would be best. It is little wonder that it is so confusing. There are four different types of resume format that can be used. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to choose one of the Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. that will highlight your experience and skills in the best manner possible.

The chronologicall resume format is one of the more well known formats people often use. This format starts by listing your current work experience first, and then continues down with previous jobs. You will also include your work experience on this resume format. The best part about this resume format is that it really focuses on your work experience. As a result, it is an excellent option to use when you have a strong work history.

Another resume format you might consider using is a Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link.. This format is the simplest of all resume formats. This type of resume format is commonly used either when you have a lot of work experience or when you have held a number of jobs within a short span of time. The benefit of this resume format is that it focuses on your skills rather than your work experience. It can also be used when you do not have a lot of work experience.

You might also consider using a combination resume format. This type of resume format is a combination of the two previously mentioned resume formats. It includes both your skills as well as your work history. If you are changing from one industry to another this type of resume format can be a good choice.

The fourth of the different resume formats is a curriculum vitae resume. This resume format is normally used when someone is applying for a position as a teacher or professor or other educational job. You might also use this resume format when you have publishing credits.

Regardless of which of the resume formats that you choose it is important to make sure that your resume is as neat and professional as possible. Always make sure that you have someone proofread your resume, no matter which of the Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link.s that you use, to ensure that you do not have any spelling errors or typos. Lastly, you should make sure not to make your resume too long - keep extra information available to talk about at interviews. At most, your resume should be no more than two pages.

Three Common Resume Writing Mistakes

Posted on April 2, 2010 by David

While many people are not aware of it most employers do not spend a lot of time looking at a resume. In fact, most resumes are only glanced over for a few seconds of time. This means that you have a very short amount of time in which to make your case and assure an employer that you are the right person for the job. It is little wonder that so many people are concerned about Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. when so much is riding on creating the perfect resume. Knowing about the most common mistakes made when writing a resume will help you to avoid them and create a resume to land you an interview.

Resume Writing Mistake #1: Ignoring Accomplishments and Focusing On Duties Performed

In Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link., it is critical that you make sure that you focus on your accomplishments rather than duties or responsibilities. You must demonstrate the contributions that you have made to previous employers. For example, did you help the company reduce expenses, or improve processes and solve problems that came up? If so, these are things that you need to point out on your resume. Create interest in them through the use of bullet points.

Resume Writing Mistake #2: Focusing on your Own Needs Instead of the Employer's

Avoid the mistake of solely concentrating on your needs when you are in the process of writing a resume. A potential employer has a reason and a need for filling a position - it is up to you to communicate how you are the perfect candidate for the job. Set your own needs aside and focus on the employer's needs in your resume writing for the best results.

Resume Writing Mistake # 3: Failing to Use Key Words

Resume writing today is much different today than it was ten years ago. Today, many people submit their resumes online in order to reach a larger number of employers. If you are going to submit your resume online, you need to make sure you utilize keywords correctly. Search through existing job listings and postings to get a good idea of what keywords you should use.

Making sure that you avoid these mistakes in your Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. can help you to create a well crafted resume that will be certain to grab an employer's attention and survive that critical 30-second test scan so that you can move on through the next phase of the process.

Choose Online Mp3 Audio Books

Posted on April 1, 2010 by David

Blame it on Apple the creators of iPod or the makers of its predecessor the MP3 player or old Mr. Jim Harris, a computer programmer in Memphis, who landed on the pages of New York Times who was able to read/listen to about 54 Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link.. People, he only read a small number books, but calls himself a lifelong bookworm.

So what have really made people get hooked to Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link.? Let us try to review first the concept of reading. Is it in any way better than listening? No, think again.

The modern day world just realised that there’s a simple way for a book to get along with the “cool” concept. It made itself not just hip with its sleek design device; it made itself more portable.

Oh come on, would you rather bring a hardbound Harry Potter Volume 6 than your iPod where you can actually hear great Dumbledore as he reigns over Hogwarts?

It might be why the National Endowment for the Arts said that fewer Americans are reading than a decade ago. A third of them they say are listening to MP3, iPod, CDs and DVDs.

It is said that Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. have redefined reading. Where it used to be an activity that requires devoted time; it can now be a part of your daily routine. Digital audio that can be downloaded on MP3 has led into numerous converted readers.

Why it might suffice that the smallest iPod can hold up to four books. You might even like the latest version where you can speed up narrations without increasing pitch.

Technology has a way of changing things, but of course what does the literati think?

They still stand by the written word, saying actors’ breathing on audio might not do the book justice.

But if this is the only way for common people to understand and appreciate literature, then let people listen to the word than never to read it at all.

Deep reading as critics say has become less popular, as it requires the inner and outer ear.

The truth is, reading can still be there, but when it’s almost rush hour and you’re in bottle-neck traffic, who would like to open Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s thick paperback of One Hundred Years of Solitude?

Not Mr. Harris who owns the latest iPod.

Earn Money From Your Writing Skills

Posted on March 29, 2010 by David

I am one of many people who have realised the many benefits that writing articles can bring. Article marketing is now widely recognised as an excellent way of promoting a website, however there are many more opportunities out there to make money for the budding writer.

I just happened to stumble across the idea of writing articles around eight months ago when I was discussing different forms of Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. with a friend of mine. I was looking at ways in which I could attract more visitors to my own sites and he advised me to commence writing articles.

The advice was sound and I have not looked back since. Writing articles is a superb way of gaining extra one-way backward links to your site and the readers of each article are also potential visitors. I run a Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. therapy website where I offer a speech course to enable people to achieve fluency. Thanks to the power of article marketing more and more people are able to gain access to quality stuttering and Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link..

I attempt to write around seven articles per week which is not easy at times but is something I am aware will help my sites.

In each article I try to give advice and attempt to make them enjoyable for any potential reader.

There are other ways that people like myself, who enjoy to write can make money from their skills.

Other people are also aware of the benefits of article marketing but just do not have the time to write themselves. These people are always on the lookout for somebody to help them out, somebody who will write and submit an article for them. To become noticed or to get your name out there is very easy; there are a number of websites on the net which enable people to advertise the services that they offer for free.

Other areas where people can earn additional cash from their skills is via writing freelance for newspapers and magazines. If your skills are of a higher enough quality and what you write is of interest to a wide audience, there is no reason why you could not earn money in this way.

Writing has never been more in demand and now is the time for people who feel that they have the gift to make the most out of this opportunity. I am sure that I am not the only one that has noticed all of the rubbish that is on the internet at the moment; this is exactly the reason why your skills as a top quality writer are much sought after.

Many people might argue that they are not well enough educated to be accepted as a writer in certain quarters. This may well be correct for some people out there, however if you do not try you will never know. Content is king as they say and if your content is good enough and of interest, why would people have an issue with your lack of examinations etc.

Ensure that your content is easy to read and that all of the words are spelt correct. This is a great time to be a writer; I wish you all the best and enjoy all of that lovely dosh that you will earn.

Twist Your Endings

Posted on March 28, 2010 by David

Normal 0

Twisting the ending of a story is like putting icing on a cake, a cherry on top of a sundae, or nuts in brownies. It is a writer's finale.

The reader won't see a good twisted ending coming. On occasion, even the writer doesn't know where the ending is going. If that is your case, you will have a lot of trouble twisting the ending.

First, find a natural ending. Now, decide on an alternate ending that will surprise the reader. Next, look for a common denominator between the endings. Then all at once steer the storyline in another direction.

One good twist is to take the reader back to the beginning scene of the story. This is the loop effect. Another good way to twist the ending uses irony.

Irony Example: A man rescues a wolf and makes a pet out of it. The government captures the wolf and decides to euthanize it. He files a lawsuit against the government and wins. (Fantasy story.) The man gets the wolf back and the reader thinks the climax has come and gone with the courtroom scene and the reunion with the wolf. The reader is coming to the end of the book, just half a dozen paragraphs left – and he reads that the man takes the wolf for a romp in the snow and the wolf turns on his owner and tears his throat out.

Make your readers think they know the ending, and then pull the rug out from under them. This is what made Alfred Hitchcock so famous. You won't know who the guilty party is until the very last scene. Hitchcock mastered twisted endings.

What’s An Audio Book?

Posted on March 27, 2010 by David

The tenet of Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. is in no way new but they are more easy to get now and are available in more applications than previously.

The first audio books inclined to be more in the range of study material learning languages, assorted inspirational courses, or literary study aids not to mention an array of promotional material but they have developed to cover a much wider range.

The original audio books tended to be more in the range of study material – learning languages, various motivational courses, or literary study aids, not to mention an array of promotional material – but they have developed to cover a much wider spectrum. Educational material in this form has boomed. Voice recordings of published books exist either in the form of actors reading parts, or of someone reading the book to an audience. In some cases, stories are published books, in other cases the audio books are specially written for this medium. Sci-Fi forms a large part of the audio book market, including serialization of scripts specifically written for the medium.

Whether your objective is study, entertainment or use as a remedial tool, there are Please Login or Register to see this special Members Only link. readily available to suit your requirements.

One of the most obvious benefits of the audio book is the benefit to those who suffer from impaired vision. There are others, though, who are unable to read and would benefit hugely from being able to listen – small children and anyone else who has not yet learnt to read. Audio books make education a reality even for the illiterate, but they also offer a world of entertainment, information and knowledge despite people’s inability to read.

For many of us, the audio book gives us an opportunity to catch up on some “reading” in situations where we don’t normally use a book. Driving a car, for example, particularly if you are cursed with peak hour traffic every day. Even using public transport, many people are uncomfortable burying the faces in a book – they want to be alert and see what is happening around them. The audio book is the answer – out with the MP3 player, and you’re conscious of two worlds at once.

If you’re good at multi-tasking, it’s a boon. Listen to your favourite stories, inspirational material, or learn something new while going about routine housekeeping tasks, or any other routine work, for that matter.

The audio book certainly adds an element of convenience to our lives, particularly now that we have such a variety to listen to.
