KATHRINE AND THE REALM OF HOLES by David Foard
Chapter One…
There once was a sad child, more miserable than all the other children in her school. Her name was Kathrine and she was unhappier than the other boys and girls because she had lost her imagination.
When her friends played in the school yard, Kathrine never joined in, because she couldn’t imagine a make-believe field with castles and kings, or ever conceive of herself as a princess, rescued by knights in shining armour and riding great white horses.
One day while other children played pirates, Kathrine wandered to the far corner of the school field, sat among the long grass and concealed herself from her friends.
