Writing that Controls the Reader

Have you felt your heart pound with fear during horror movies? Did it make you nervous when the slasher was about to stab the lady in the shower? That’s how it feels when the writer is controlling you. You can also control your readers in the same method. You can learn to control their heartbeat and the rate at which they read.

Perhaps you wonder what a writer would even care about how fast the reader reads. It’s because you will want to jerk the reader into action scenes, but unending action scenes will mentally wear on them. The reader sorely needs slow scenes that deliver mental and emotional rest. This is when they will reassess the action scene you have just presented.
