The key to the success of novels writing

July 5th, 2009

Most people, it seems, dream of trying their hand at novel writing. And for most people, unfortunately, that is as far as it goes.

Why is that?

Maybe they don't have the time. (Although I believe that we can always find time to do something if we want a serious shortage enough.) More likely, they simply don't think that they have "what it takes", as if writers were somehow a breed apart. If you have any doubts about your own abilities, here are what I consider to be the three most important keys to successful new fiction book writing...

1. Writing a Novel Takes Talent

I'm not talking genius here. We can't all be Dostoevsky. You simply need a love of language - a "way with words", if you like. Oh, and a good muscular imagination won't hurt you, either. Now, I don't know you, of course, but my guess is that you wouldn't be reading this article in the first place if you weren't the daydreaming kind, and if you had the literary equivalent of two left feet.

2. Writing fiction and the hard work (and a large number of it)

Not that the work isn't also stimulating and fun and amazingly rewarding. It's just that you'll never make it much beyond the first few pages of your novel if you prefer a gentler life. You must have a clear understanding of the purpose of all these efforts, too. Yes, money is enough to make a profit from writing fiction, but if its funds, incentive you...well, let's just say there have got to be easier ways of turning a buck. The same thing goes for chasing fame.

3. You Need to Know the best thriller books Writing "Rules" (and Know When to Break Them, Too)

Go into any decent bookstore and you'll find dozens of titles on the art and craft of writing novels. They range from the general to the specific (entire books have been written on Narrative Voice alone), and from the great to the frankly not-so-great. Needless to say, there is a similar range of help is also on the Internet (although here, "not so much" can be truly terrible). Anyway, I hope this article has convinced you that there really is nothing stopping you from getting to work on your new fiction book.

How I Used The Fresh Papaya (PawPaw):

The fruit was to be consumed ‘As is’ because we always have a small plate of fruit everyday around 5 pm.

I planned on adding a teaspoon of seeds into my Yogurt at lunchtime.

The ‘Coleslaw’ I would add to any Salad (even in a sandwich) as it’s summertime in Oz and we are eating a lot of Salads. Don’t know what I am going to do in the Winter though? If you have any ideas please add them as a comment so everyone can benefit.

I had also planned on five serves per day because I thought it would be better to ‘Drip Feed’ it into me, as my wife thinks I am a ‘Drip’ sometimes anyway – so that should fit.

Monday 6th Feb 2012: My Prostate Cancer Diary.

So here is the problem. I have dismissed Surgery completly and that leads me to Radio Therapy as the only available conventional medical alternative.

My Oncologist want me to have Hormone Treatment to:

  • a: Slow the Growth of the Cancer cells by (basically) chemically castrating me. Ouch!
  • b: Shrink the Prostate down to a smaller target for his magic Death Ray.

I didn’t want to do that with Hormone treatment, but can appreciate why he wants to do that.

So I’m looking into all types of Natural and Alternative medications.

The best I have come up with is PawPaw (Papaya) as there have been quite a few studies with very promising reasults, PLUS it has been… Continue reading Prostate Cancer Diary - My Natural Alternative

Prostate Treatments and Me.

Long time coming since my last post – but I have been kinda busy…. Tests – tests and more tests :-(

So this is the latest:

My Urologist sent me to the Radio Oncologist because I decided I do NOT want surgery. Apparently I can’t have Brachyatherapy (my original choice) because my Gleason Score is 8 – too high, so External Beam Therapy is the only option, even though they only found cancer cells in ONE of the TEN Biopsies they took.

HOWEVER: (I am discovering LOTS of ‘Howevers’), the Oncologist wants me to have Hormone Treatment first to bring my enlarged prostate down in size.

An ‘Average’ prostate is about 40mm – about the size of a small Plum -… Continue reading My Personal Prostate Cancer Treatment Options
